Established in 2016 by the Government of Uttarakhand, Dr. Sushila Tiwari Government Medical College & Hospital, Haldwani has rapidly grown into one of the most respected medical institutions in Northern India. Named after the renowned social worker Dr. Sushila Tiwari, the college is committed to excellence in medical education, research, and patient care.

Located in the foothills of the Himalayas, our institution serves the healthcare needs of the Kumaon region while providing world-class medical education to aspiring doctors. Our 850-bed teaching hospital provides comprehensive healthcare services across multiple specialties, handling over 300,000 outpatient visits annually.

Undergraduate Program

MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery)

Duration: 5.5 years (4.5 years academic + 1 year compulsory rotating internship)

Annual Intake: 150 seats

Eligibility: 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English with minimum 50% marks (40% for reserved categories). Qualifying NEET-UG score.

The MBBS curriculum is designed as per NMC guidelines with integrated teaching, early clinical exposure, and emphasis on competency-based medical education.

Postgraduate Programs

MD/MS (Doctor of Medicine/Master of Surgery)

Duration: 3 years

Specialties offered: Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Pathology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine, Community Medicine, General Medicine, Pediatrics, Anesthesiology, Radiodiagnosis, Dermatology, Psychiatry, and General Surgery.

Admission through NEET-PG counseling conducted by Uttarakhand Medical Education Department.

Our PG programs emphasize research methodology, teaching skills, and advanced clinical training to create specialists and medical teachers.

Teaching Methodology

Integrated teaching with system-based modules, problem-based learning, clinical case discussions, bedside teaching, and simulation-based training in our state-of-the-art skills lab.

Assessment System

Continuous internal assessment with formative tests, practical examinations, and summative assessments as per NMC guidelines. Regular feedback mechanisms for student improvement.

Admissions 2024-25

Admissions to all courses are conducted as per the regulations of National Medical Commission and Government of Uttarakhand.

MBBS Admission Process

Eligibility Criteria:
  • Indian Nationals only
  • Minimum age: 17 years as on December 31, 2024
  • 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English
  • Minimum 50% aggregate marks in PCB (40% for SC/ST/OBC)
  • Qualifying percentile in NEET-UG 2024
Selection Process:

Admission to MBBS program is based solely on NEET-UG 2024 score through Uttarakhand state counseling conducted by Uttarakhand Medical Education Department. 85% seats are reserved for Uttarakhand domicile holders, 15% under All India Quota.

Our 850-bed teaching hospital provides comprehensive healthcare services to the population of Kumaon region and neighboring areas. The hospital handles over 300,000 outpatient visits, 25,000 inpatient admissions, and performs 15,000 surgeries annually.
